Skills Development​

We do not offer this service but can refer you to accredited professionals.​

  • Assistance to see that your company complies with the “Skills Development Act 97 of 1998”;
  • Provide assistance with the development of a Workplace skills plan, (WSP) as well as a Specialized Vocational Technical & Academic Training (PIVOTAL) Plan;
  • Present and submit the Workplace Skills Plan to the correct SETA;
  • Follow-through as well as make sure client is issued the correct reimbursements;
  • Develop and assist with Skills Development Committees (if perhaps any) quarterly;
  • Recommendation on the application of the appropriate Skills Plan;
  • Help with Discretionary Grants and other Grants/Projects available through the
  • various Seta’s;
  • Assist with the drafting of yearly Training program Reports (ATR) and consequently present the plan to the relevant SETA;
  • Function as a valuable source with references to every aspect of Skills Development and implementation;
  • Be of necessary assistance at Quarterly Training programs, – Committee Group meetings, in case of any.
  • Claim back funding spent on training;
  • Assisting with the implementation of training attendance registers;
  • Assistance for the implementation of learnerships and skills programmes funded by the SETA;
  • On-Site training;
  • Discretionary Grant Funding for learnerships, skills programmes, Credit and non- credit bearing programmes etc.;
  • Training provider and professional related services;

Functions of an SDF ​

The functions of an SDF are to:

  • Assist the employer and employees to develop a Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) which complies with the requirements of the Seta;
  • Submit the WSP to the relevant Seta;
  • Advise the employer on the implementation of the WSP;
  • Assist the employer to draft an Annual Training Report (ATR) on the implementation of the WSP;
  • Advise the employer on the quality assurance requirements set by the Seta;
  • Act as a contact person between the employer and the Seta;
  • Serve as a resource with regard to all aspects of skills development;
  • Communicate Seta initiatives, grants and benefits to the employer;
  • Communicate with branch offices, and all employees in the main office and branch offices, concerning events and grants being offered at the Seta;

An SDF is a

  • Facilitator: To facilitate the development of an employer’s skills development strategy
  • Expert: To serve as an expert resource for accrediting the employer as a training provider and for the implementation of the WSP.
  • Administrator: To complete and submit the WSP and ATR.
  • Advisor: To advise the employers and employees on the National Skills Development

Strategy (NSDS) and on the implementation of the WSP

  • Education and needs evaluator: To assess the skills development needs of the organization
  • Mediator: To serve as a contact person between the employer and the relevant Seta
